Sketched the Pioneer Tower yesterday. Beautiful day and I found a nice shaded spot. Might use this image in the Urban Sketchers Oktoberfest show in the City Hall. There will be 15 of us displaying our art during Oktoberfest. Be sure to check us out!
Sketch of me by Hasib
After our throwdown critic of all our sketches we proceeded to the restaurant where Hasib quietly sketched a number of us while we were eating and chatting. This one is of me. Amazed how quickly he worked. Nice Hasib and thank you !!
Kitchener Construction
Arrived 2 hours late for meeting up with Urban Sketchers downtown Kitchener today to sketch the construction. I had 40 min. to sketch before the throwdown. I found this location in the shade at King and Victoria. Joking with the workers to park the front end loader so I could do a proper sketch of it. Not going to happen! Had to do a double check to verify where I was….so many changes!! Especially at this corner! You can just make out the former Ratz-Bechtel Funeral building in the distance. A lady approached me asking how to get to the hospital, she couldn’t figure out how to get through the construction and I and the workers couldn’t help her.
Urban Sketchers throwdown
This is part of the throwdown in Victoria Park today with Urban Sketchers Group. Everyone isn’t showing yet but what a great collection of art! Great subject matter!
City Hall Clock Tower
Sketched the City Hall Clock Tower in Victoria park today with the Urban Sketchers Waterloo Region Group. Great turnout (23 of us) and a marvelous day it was!
This Clock Tower was placed in the park after being stored in the city yards for years, after the demolition of the old city hall.

This is what I worked from.
Queen Victoria
Out with Urban Sketchers Waterloo Region Group in this marvelous weather today in Victoria Park, Kitchener, Ontario. Sat down in the shade and sketched this formidable lady before meeting up with the other sketchers for our throwdown at The Boathouse.
With Urban Sketchers in Lowville, Ont.
I sketched this monument in a garden of sculptors in Lowville, Ont. today with the Urban Sketchers of Waterloo Region. The title of this piece was “Cocktail Hour”. I had the pleasure of meeting the artist, Walt Rickli and he explained to me the origin of that title. He had observed the shadow falling onto the circles at 5p.m., hence the cocktail hour. Makes perfect sense to me;-)

Sketching with Urban Sketchers Waterloo Region
I joined the Urban Sketchers Waterloo Region Group last year. For a year I lurked, liked and commented but didn’t join in any outings, but this year I finally made it to couple of outings and met a great group of artists. Two of the sketches are from The Boathouse in Guelph a couple of weeks ago and the others are from yesterday in Dundas. Both were beautiful sunny days. I am really enjoying meeting other artists and what talent!! Check out their facebook page.
Chalk Pastel
Came across another sketch from my archives (1984). One of the few chalk pastels I’ve done. These ladies were part of a knitting group at the Elmira Syrup Festival in 1984.
